DOUBLE VISION

Michael Grecco and Sam Jones. Two Photographers. Two Styles. Two Visions. One Photographic Showcase. Both of these well-known photographers shoot public individuals, celebrities, and artists in a unique way. Both share similar ideas about using alternative cameras and techniques.

Grecco, who loves to experiment, often puts his Hasselblad away and shoots with a $10 Holga. Jones uses cameras that allow him to get very close to his subject. They share a similiar approach to printing their images -- dramatic and edgey. Using printing processes that bring out as much texture and tone as possible, Jones trades "vanity for realism." When this pair of artist's images are placed side by side in a two man show, titled "Double Vision" at Photo Impact Gallery, the results are intriguing. But, you won't be seeing double. Their unique style sets them apart. Grecco's work is often described as "off-beat, conceptual, and fresh." Jones' is described as "intimate, vulnerable, and revealing."

These are artists whose work has been featured in magazines such as Vanity Fair, Entertainment Weekly, Premiere, Rolling Stone, Playboy, Newsweek and Time.
An artists reception was hosted by Photo Impact, Friday October 24th, 1998 from 7-9 PM.
