Notes: Nelson's native land is Havana, Cuba. His family escaped the repression in the 60's. After coming to America, he studied Fine Art and worked as an illustrator. He picked up the camera to help with his illustrations and "never looked back." "Photography," he explains, "is something personal - the allusive moment to welcome a viewer to your way of looking at people - things- time - history - dreams." FASHION - BUT NOT - FASHION

Photo Impact continues it's tradition in group photographic exhibitions that focus on
theme in black + white photography.

This new show, "Fashion - but not - Fashion," opening Friday, March 21, 1997, focuses on the stylized and artistic approach of five different photographers that transcend the realm of "fashion." Their methods and vision use models, stylists, hair and make-up artists, wardrobe, and unique sets and locations. However, their images tell a story. They capture a mood and feeling that goes far beyond what you are used to seeing on the pages of most magazines. Artistic. Moody. Liberating. All of these emotions - and more - are evoked while viewing the images of the following photographers:
